Hello to all readers who have made the journey from my previous site. Have a look around and let me know how you like the new place and shoot me an email with an opinion if you get a hankering. Hello to all new readers; the good folks at New York Sports Day have moved over all my original content so all you newbies have some catching up to do.
On to baseball. The Mets won after battling back to retake a lead twice. The night was capped off by a bases loaded walk off single by the Prince of the city. I guess the pub didn’t go to his head. I just hope we can sign him long term. It would be the biggest mistake since Tom Seaver departed for Cinci.
I like the Jose, Jose, Jose, Jose, Jossseee, Jossseee cheer and caught myself joining in at home. I am somewhat disturbed that he couldn’t bunt a runner over, but he’s still learning.
I was going to discuss the Mets ability to stay with anyone; how this team seems to have that something special in their ability to comeback. This team clearly fears no one.
But I won’t, as the Mets have announced that Xavier Nady is expected to miss 4-6 weeks as he underwent an appendectomy this morning.
Meaning… Lastings Milledge will be promoted to the big league club. I honestly don’t know how to feel as all the excitement around Milledge has created a savior mentality that most likely wont live up to expectations. But if it does, watch out. Milledge has been the crown jewel of the Mets farm system and most likely the first name submitted by various teams at the trading block.
I really hope the reports are right about him, I hope he is something special. The murmur around various blogs is that he will not play tonight. I can’t wait to see the hoopla surrounding the Milledge Media Frenzy that this move will stir up. Let me see if I can get the Post headline.
Mets Put on MilledgeLastings Impression?
We will see.
We will see.Be sure to check out the Mets notes as Willie goes with his gut, Bell gets to stay put, and Omar couldn’t sign Pedro Beato. What was this kid holding out for if Omar couldn’t sign him? Double what Pelfrey got? Pedro or Wagner’s deal? Carlos Beltran money? The Stadium naming rights?
In non-Mets news, the Tigers are this year’s Nationals except with Kenny Rogers.
Every year some Cinderella comes out of nowhere and makes some noise until the All-Star Break. Hey fella’s it happens every year. And guess what, the post office will be crowded next April 15th and the airports will be busy Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
Soler makes his second start tonight against the D’backs and a 4-2 Miguel Batista.
Let’s Go Mets!
Sorry for the re-post, technical difficulties
