Johnson lifts Mets pasts Marlins 5-2; Walker likely done (The Associated Press)

Just when things are starting to fall in place for the surging New York Mets, another key injury clouded what should have been a jubilant clubhouse after one of their biggest wins this year. After Kelly Johnson's three-run double in the eighth inning broke a tie and lifted the Mets to a 5-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night, manager Terry Collins announced that second baseman Neil Walker would probably have season-ending surgery on a herniated disc in his back. ''After all the evidence has been gathered, he thinks that's where he's probably headed,'' Collins said.

Marlins' Ozuna exits with sore left wrist after diving catch (The Associated Press)

Miami Marlins All-Star Marcell Ozuna left a game Wednesday night against the New York Mets during the fourth inning because of a sore left wrist. With New York leading 2-1 and runners on first and second, the center fielder made a diving catch on Wilmer Flores' sinking line drive to end the third. The right-handed throwing Ozuna appeared to land on his left wrist before rolling over several times.

Mets, Gov. Cuomo honor Endwell LLWS champs at Citi Field (The Associated Press)

The Mets and Governor Andrew Cuomo honored the 2016 Little League World Series champions from Endwell, New York, prior to a game with the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. A group of 29 players, coaches, parents and siblings took the three-hour bus ride from Endwell to Citi Field. The players spent batting practice on the field, meeting the Mets' players before Cuomo presented the team with an official New York State proclamation.

Walker likely to have season-ending back surgery (The Associated Press)

Second baseman Neil Walker will likely opt for season-ending surgery on a herniated disc in his back, Mets manager Terry Collins announced following New York's 5-2 victory over the Miami Marlins at Citi Field on Wednesday. ''After all the evidence has been gathered, he thinks that's where he's probably headed,'' Collins said. Walker is expected to address the media Thursday.
