Ex-Yankees great Stottlemyre 'doing better' son says (AFP)

Former New York Yankees pitcher Mel Stottlemyre's health was improving Sunday after his son said Friday that the 75-year-old was fighting for his life in hospital. Stottlemyre was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of bone marrow cancer, in 2000. "Please know that the greatest warrior I have ever known is doing a lot better," Stottlemyre's son Todd wrote on his Facebook page.

Justin Turner, Dodgers finalize $64M, 4-year contract (The Associated Press)

Third baseman Justin Turner and the Los Angeles Dodgers have finalized their $64 million, four-year contract. ''JT has been, and will continue to be, a vital part of the Dodgers on the field, in the clubhouse and in the community,'' Los Angeles President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman said in a statement. Los Angeles also has a pending $80 million, five-year agreement with closer Kenley Jansen.

AP source: Pirates, Ivan Nova agree to $26M, 3-year deal (The Associated Press)

Ivan Nova rejuvenated his career during a solid two-month stint with the Pirates at the end of 2016. The pitcher hopes to build on that with Pittsburgh. A person with knowledge of the deal said Thursday that Nova has agreed to a $26 million, three-year contract to give Pittsburgh's young rotation an established starter behind ace Gerrit Cole.

Cubs-Cardinals rivalry set to take over 'Sunday Night Baseball' (Big League Stew)
