Tebow plans to return to Mets organization in 2018

Mets prospect OF Tim Tebow plans to return to the Mets organization next season, according to multiple reports.  Tebow, who started the season with Single-A Columbia, has played 59 games since his promotion to High-A St. Lucie. St. Lucie's season concludes on Sunday, and Tebow is not sure what lies ahead in the immediate future. "It's still something we're figuring out, but for me it'll be a lot of training," he said Thursday via the AP. "For me it'll be about working on training and building the muscle-memory where I can do it for two, five, seven days and continue to build a couple of weeks at a time." The 30-year-old outfielder said his first full season was about getting acclimated to the

Report: Asdrubal Cabrera hopes to remain with Mets in 2018

Going into the 2018 season, the Mets have a lot of holes to fill. And with David Wright's absence presumed to be permanent, one of the biggest is at third base. Unfortunately, the position player market is paper thin, and third base may be the worst spot of all. One of the few pending free agent third basemen having an above average year is Mike Moustakas, but does he make sense for the Mets? On the positive side, Moustakas is having a strong offensive year with an .854 OPS -- 11th-best among MLB third basemen, and 35 home runs -- by far the most of his career. This marks the third consecutive year he has put up above average numbers, and though his on base percentage is mediocre, his strikeout

The Wright and Reyes on-field reunion may never happen

During Spring Training, there was hope that David Wright and Jose Reyes -- who played together with the Mets from 2004 to 2011 -- would reunite on field during games this season. However, with Wright recently terminating his rehab assignment and Reyes a free agent after this season, that reunion might never happen. "I wish all the best for him and whatever decision he needs to make I am going to be behind him 100 percent," Reyes said Tuesday, according to Mike Puma of the NY Post. "If he wants to continue to play, I am going to be here supporting him and whatever he decides to do," Reyes continued. "But, at the same time, he needs to decide about his future and does he want to continue to try?"

Mets eager to help in aftermath of Hurricane Harvey

The Mets plan to use Friday's off-day in Houston to help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, according to multiple reports. "Pretty much everyone I talked to was like, 'Yeah, I want to do something,'" Mets LHP Jerry Blevins said, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. "We've got a good group of guys here that want to help out some fellow Americans in need." The Mets and Astros will play a doublehader Saturday in Houston and their regularly scheduled game on Sunday in the first games the Astros will play in Houston since the hurricane. The aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, which has caused catastrophic flooding in and around Houston, resulted in highway closures, and caused 17 deaths, was expected

MLB Power Rankings: Marlins moving up thanks to Giancarlo Stanton

WAR – all uppercase – isn’t the end-all, but it has its place. It’d be better, of course, if there were just one. There’s at least two, and we wouldn’t stand for that with any other statistic, of which there are plenty. More than plenty. What’s a few

Rafael Montero continues string of strong starts for Mets

Rafael Montero pitched a career-best 8 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and four walks as the Mets beat the Reds, 2-0, in Cincinnati on Wednesday night. "The changeup was working really well, so I was using that a lot," Montero told reporters after the game. "I spent a good portion of time last year in the Dominican working on it and it finally came to be a pitch I can rely on now." Montero (3-9 with a 5.12 ERA/4.21 FIP, and 1.67 WHIP), who threw 75 strikes out of a career-high 117 pitches, only allowed one hit -- a Joey Votto double in the fourth inning -- until the Reds collected two hits in the ninth inning. AJ Ramos fanned the final two hitters to preserve Montero's third win
