Mets’ Weekly Adventures: Thor’s Christmas, Wright, and more

Compared to past weeks, this week was a bit quieter in off-the-field Mets land. Noah Syndergaard, as usual, had most of the fun -- at least from the looks of it on social media. We found out that Thor -- who is now private on Instagram -- not only enjoys Christmas, but is quite the fan of Elf as well. But who isn't? He went to the tree in Rockefeller Center, quoting the film in his caption: "Well, there are some things you should know. First off, if you see gum on the street, leave it there. It isn't free candy. Second, there are, like, thirty Ray's Pizzas. They all claim to be the original. But the real one's on 11th. And if you see a sign that says 'Peep Show,' that doesn't mean that they're

The Amazin’ Life presented by Coca-Cola: Keith, Ron, and a Baby

Unlike the summer, in fall, Citi Field isn't just another fun activity to add to your already jam-packed calendar of vacation plans, trips and events. Instead, it becomes a stand-alone treat for families - a break from that fall, back to school (and work) routine that holds its own as a special family outing. For kids, a day at the ballpark is a fun occasion where they get to be right in the middle of all the action - watching the game, participating in special activities, eating great food and picking up fun Mets swag. Plus, over the weekend, there are more activities for kids at Citi Field than simply watching the game. After every Sunday home game, your family can get priority access to run

MLB trade rumor grades: Lucas Duda to the Yankees?

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Yankees are interested in Lucas Duda. This rumor makes sense. Let’s grade it. I’m not sure when the tipping point was for Duda, when he made the transition from “kinda old for a prospect” or “poor man’s Adam Dunn” to a reliable power threat. He’s had an OPS+ between 130 and 137 in three out of the last four seasons, with the fourth easily explained away by injuries. He’s been a steady 25- or 30-homer hitter, and he’s patient enough to not worry about the low batting average. He’s pretty good at baseballing. Duda is also 31 and a pending free agent. It feels like he’s been on the Mets for 17 years, which means it feels like he should be with them for

Here’s a do-and-don’t list to mascots, from a former mascot

The New York Mets' mascot, who flashed his "middle" finger at a fan, violated a code of conduct Wednesday night. Take it from me, a former Michigan State mascot. DON'T TALK! Mascots are supposed to be seen, not heard.

Take it from a former Mr. Met: It ain’t easy being a mascot

A little before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, I received a text from a friend of mine who used to be the mascot for the Baltimore Orioles. It was a heads-up that my Twitter feed was about to explode, thanks to the now-infamous video snippet of Mr. Met giving the middle to finger to fans. He knew. You see, Mr. Met used to be me -- or I used to be Mr. Met. For those who have been a professional mascot, the lines sometimes get a bit blurry. But the key word is professional. A mascot is the most visible PR tool at a team's disposal, which is why you can't just stick anybody into the costume and hope for the best. You can't do what some minor league teams do each night, which is have all the interns essentially
