Wright hits grand slam, Pelfrey sharp for Mets (AP)

David Wright is just about ready for the season. The Mets third baseman hit a grand slam and Mike Pelfrey had his best outing of the spring and as New York beat the Houston Astros 9-1 on Thursday night. Wright, who missed all but three games this spring while recovering from a torn rib cage muscle, drove a 3-2, two-out pitch from Livan Hernandez over the left-field wall.

Fan Opinion: Five Predictions for the 2012 New York Mets (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

With Spring Training underway and Opening Day drawing ever closer, the time has come to look ahead to what 2012 will hold for the New York Mets. Even with the past several seasons being disappointing debacles in which the team seems to consistently shoot themselves in the foot, I'm still a lifelong Mets fan. Every year, no matter how bad the past season was and no matter how bad the current season looks to be, I still get excited for the game to start back up. For me, the longest stretch of the calendar is the two months between the Super Bowl and the first pitch of the regular season.
